The Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities sets a new benchmark for performance-led commissioning. At 25,300 m², it proves Passivhaus can succeed at exceptional scale and complexity. Commissioning transformed ambitious design intent into verified performance, from individually calibrated VAV controls to coordinated testing across 33 smoke zones and multiple life-safety interfaces. The result is England’s largest Passivhaus-certified building, with winter monitoring indicating heating energy at around half that of comparable non-Passivhaus buildings.
