PHOENIX COMMISSIONING SERVICES: Shawfair Energy Centre and District Heating Network

 

During initial design development, together with the design team and end user discussed moving to a chemical-free design, aligning with VDI 2035-2, BSRIA, and CIBSE guidance. This approach improves sustainability, safety, and efficiency by removing risks from chemical storage and disposal, lowering long-term maintenance costs, and optimising environmental performance. Both primary and secondary systems use pre-conditioned water from a central Energy Centre, eliminating the need for separate treatment equipment at secondary connections.
